When interfacing a reach-rod system with a valve’s existing gearbox, the primary connection point is the gearbox input shaft where the handwheel is mounted.
However, valve drawings typically show only the bare valve stem. Gearbox input-shaft drawings are frequently unavailable. Even when provided, they may not reflect the physical unit on-site due to manufacturer model substitutions between production batches.
To streamline the procurement process, we recommend a two-stage information submission:
1. Simply provide the measured gearbox input-shaft diameter. A missing gearbox drawing will not delay your initial quote.
2. Prior to fabrication, the handwheel must be removed to inspect and measure the exposed input shaft. Confirming these key connection features against the actual installed gearbox ensures exact machining and fitup.
This phased approach allows us to deliver a prompt quotation while guaranteeing complete dimensional accuracy prior to final production.
